Bulgarian company Kostov Motors have been making electric motors for over 50 years and are well-known among EV enthusiasts for their excellent value and reliable performance. EV Works is proud to be their exclusive distributor for the Australasian region.

Kostov's 17R series are a compact 220mm frame size series DC motor, ideal for EVs up to around 1200kg. They have a relatively short frame so will fit in most transverse engine bays (i.e front wheel drive vehicles). These motors also include interpoles to improve commutator timing and performance.

Continuous current rating: 205A
Continuous power: ~30kW
Max speed: 5600rpm

NOTE: This motor is available in several voltage ratings. The 144V version is best suited to vehicles from 96V to 144V, but we can also get 80V or 168V nominal models for EVs running unusually low or high voltages respectively.
