Description

LiFePO4 is currently the leading battery technology for powering electric vehicles due to their high energy and power density, robust nature and exceptional cycle life (typically 2000-3000 cycles). The 26650EV is K2's high energy cell, with 3200mAh capacity and offering up to 10C discharge rate in a standard 26650 package. This cell has about 125Wh/kg, one of the highest around for LiFePO4 chemistry.

We first tested these cells back in January 2008 and found them to be among the best LiFePO4 chemistry cells on the market, so are very pleased to be able to offer them to the Australian market. (See http://www.zeva.com.au/tech/K2 for our test results.) They are also one of the few brands produced under American management, with ISO 9001 certification, for added peace of mind.

Tech Note: 26650 sized cells are most commonly used in small electric vehicles such as e-bikes or scooters, which may contain a pack built from 20-100 cells. They are usually not feasible for large EVs (e.g cars) due to the higher price per watt-hour and logistics of building so many small cells into one large pack, as compared with large format prismatic cells such as ThunderSkys. However they do offer much higher power and/or energy density, so can be useful for some specialised applications. For example, the battery pack in the KillaCycle and 2SSIC are both built from 26650 cells.
